the written word seems to be so normal and almost ordinary today. it is easy to overlook the meticulous effort that went into inventing and designing all these countless symbols and glyphs. from a certain distance it is almost unbelievable that such a complicated system as typography became so widespread and universally accepted.

this is set to be an ongoing series to discover and to compare the different varieties of typography of signs, brandings and handwritings all across different languages, cultures and settings.
